Education is so important and comes to us in many different ways; we are always taking in new information. Willie is learning how to spell; using rocks he is forming a letter on the ground, clever Willie.

Sid is an Indian cobra and his job is to keep time on life. When we are young we don’t really think about time passing quickly but Sid reminds us that as we get older time will go by apparently much quicker, older people will tell us this is certainly true. “Now where are my sausages”, thinks Sid, time for lunch.

Proud Dad Terry is an African elephant and very strong but where son Brad is concerned he is a big softy. Terry is so proud of Brad and thinks that one day he will be a King. Lots of Dads are like this about their kids!

Meet Carl Tweeting, he’s bringing in lunch for Bianca and Boo his two girls. They are hungry but Carl asks them to wait their turn and be patient, he will make sure there is enough to go around. This is my job, he tweets to his followers.

Hazel is a great athlete but she is modest in victory. She always tries to encourage others and never ‘shows off’ even though she loves to win.

George is married to Mildred and his job is as a deep sea diver, he can go into very deep water with his special skills. He looks sad in this picture because he only came second in the competition, Hazel was the winner and Christian came third, George loves to win and so second place is a disappointment to him.

Martial Art expert Oliver has taken a job as a pizza delivery boy but as he delivers Jenny’s meal she wonders if Oliver is thinking about making her the meal!

Jenny is from Madagascar, she loves movies and pizza. Today is her day off from the supermarket and so she’s ordered in a pizza but it is quite a surprise when she is met by Oliver, the look on her face suggests she is a little scared but it’s okay, Oliver is only there to hand over her Pizza today.

Welshman Alf Collie is at university and is taking a degree in Physics; he’s a very bright lad and is always reading; you hardly ever see Alf without a book under his arm. He loves to go for a coffee with girlfriend Ruth and he’ll sit there for hours reading his books. On one occasion the coffee shop was about to close and they needed to ask him to leave, he had been in there for many hours without even realising how much time had passed by.

Interesting Fact: Any idea why student Larry Southworth is so named? Look at the hairstyle, it’s in the original Google colours. The founder of Google is Larry Page and his wife is Lucinda Southworth, hence Larry Southworth.

Part time comedians Anthony Howler and Declan Grin are perhaps better known to us all as Ant & Dec 😊.

These two boys are always laughing their socks off. Ant and Dec are never apart, they are inseparable friends and to them, every day is a barrel of laughs, they never stop and when others see them, they start to laugh as well.  In this picture Ant has just eaten a red hot chilli and steam is coming from his ears, Dec thinks this is hilarious and takes a picture on his phone.

Meet Cola Spangle – married to Fizz (but Cola calls her Fizzy). Cola is a business analyst, this is his first important job and he is proud. He loves analysing data, creating solutions and communicating with a wide variety of people.

Interesting Fact: Mars Confectionary made a product named Spangles; these were fruit flavoured hard boiled sweets sold in a packet. Occasionally they released a special edition named Fizzy Cola Spangles. Sold in the 1970’s these special edition sweets literally fizzed in your mouth and tasted of cola. Both Spangles and Fizzy Cola Spangles are no longer made by Mars but we named our Life Tree Koala Bear, Cola Spangle and his lovely wife is Fizz who Cola refers to as Fizzy.

Seen here with her law degree, it’s a great day for Loren as she poses for a picture with Mike. Her parents are very wealthy and they live in Jersey. Many well-off people choose to live in Jersey as they can pay less tax there! Loren’s parents sold a technology business for a great deal of money and now they are retired.

Our Barman and cocktail maker Tom Cruise will need little introduction as the famous actor played the role of barman Brian Flanagan in the film Cocktail.

Cocktails anyone? Tom is a famous cocktail maker and is offering his drinks to visitors of his tree top bar. Tom is a real character and is well known. ‘I’m the world’s most famous cocktail maker’ he says with a big smile on his face.

Eric is out on the town with his best mate Ernie. It is getting late, Eric is tired and ready for going home but Ernie is not quite ready to go. The lads have been enjoying Tom’s cocktails and as they both have a few days off from work they probably deserve a good night out, and who is the pretty lady in pink?

Eric Clitheroe and his pal Ernie Smart are the Life Tree’s very own Eric & Ernie. Clitheroe is next to Morecambe and so we have Eric Morecambe and smart is another word for wise and so we have Ernie Wise, two of the county’s best known funny men.

Ernie Smart is a wise fella. He is a senior flight attendant for a major airline and in his spare time, Ernie is a Scrabble champion. Because he knows lots of words and is brilliant at spelling Ernie is unbeaten in every competition he has entered. His dream is to become world Scrabble champion one day.

Brazilian Mara Banana works for the same airline as Eric and Ernie. Mara is a former beauty queen winning many competitions in Brazil where she lives. She loves to dress up and go dancing particularly at Toms treetops bar, it seems she’s really enjoying herself as she looks very happy.

Susan Petal (Sue) is a lovely person but very shy. She is tending to her flowers today as she looks out from her little house.  You can see for yourself how well cared for Sue’s flowers are, they look really healthy and bright and a lovely Butterfly is waiting to pay a visit.

He has finally made it to the top and decides to have a Crown fixed to his chair; he thinks he is a King now! Be careful Winston; remember your friends, people who helped you get to the top, try to be humble because you can lose power very quickly and when you’re at the top you have a long way to fall.

Bob is small but strong and holds up Winston’s chair. He likes his job and has no ambition to have more to do, for Bob his job is not the most important thing to him. He has a lovely partner, Susan, and he is a keen rugby player. Bob stays healthy by eating good food, usually cooked by Sue and doing exercise to keep fit.

Sebrina is the secretary to Winston. In truth Winston scares her a little; he has a deep voice and shouts quite a lot but Sebrina copes well. She is good at paperwork and very organised. Tonight is her dance class, she is learning ballroom dancing with hubby Sebastian, they have many friends at the dance class and really enjoy the social life as well as learning to dance.

Alan Wicker is a travel reporter, he goes all over the world exploring different places. Alan understands that when you go to a new country you should try to fit into a different way of life and embrace new cultures. Alan is away from home a lot but Merry, his lovely wife, understands and doesn’t mind. She knows that when they are together they value their time and do lots of great things together. Travel reporter Alan Wicker is named after one of the very first televised travel reporters of the same name.

Tukka is Alan’s companion on all his trips to new places. He organises the hotels and flights. He is also employed by technology giant Apple, but he can do this work on his computer, mobile phone or tablet, he has no need to go to an office. Modern technology allows people to work anywhere in the whole world provided the internet is available. ‘The world is now a very small place because of technology’ remarks Tukka.

The Galapagos Islands are so beautiful and full of amazing wildlife. This is Toby’s home; he used to be a fisherman but retired at the age of 107. Toby is now nearly 170 years old and is still very active, he says this is because in his mind he will always be a young person, what a great attitude to life Toby. If you ever meet him you will be fascinated by the many stories he can tell about life, after all, he has seen so many things, and he is rich with wisdom and experience.

Lowland Gorilla John likes nothing more than Sunday lunch with his family and afterwards he will tell them all some wonderful stories, he has lots to share! Wife Tilly has heard them all before but still enjoys them, she loves John with all her heart and John loves her too.

Grandad Gorilla John Aspinall is named after the most successful wildlife conservationist of the same name. John, now sadly parted, created Howlett’s and Port Lympne wild animal parks whose mission is to return as many animals back to the wild as possible. Son Damien now heads up the parks and continues where is father left off.

Andre is John’s son and a famous conductor. He drives a bus and collects the fares in Bradford, he loves his job and says that new buses are really easy to drive. He is having lunch with his family and waiting to sit in a big chair, watch TV and have a snooze, he’s had a busy week working and Sunday is his favourite day – his day to relax. Andre Previn is a world-famous orchestra conductor.

Crochet’s face says it all; she loves her family time and is so proud of kids Robbie and Gary. Grandad John embraces the kids, wrapping them up in his huge arms – even though he is older now he is still strong. Crochet looks on and realises how lucky she is, she has a good husband, lovely kids and everyone is healthy and happy, “I am truly rich” she thinks.

Gary and Robbie, the twins, are typical little monkeys, always playing and having fun. Gary has a real talent for writing songs and Robbie is a pretty good singer. Who knows, when they grow up maybe they will be famous but for now, they just enjoy being kids in a secure and loving family.

Gary and Robbie, the children of Andre and Crochet are named after the famous duo of Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams from the pop group Take That.

Retirement is certainly not the end, says Beryl, it’s the start of new beginnings. Age to Beryl is just a number and nothing is beyond her. She will never say ‘oh, I’m too old to do this or that’ what a positive way to live life and it maybe it is why Beryl is so active and happy.

Edwina’s life was just about perfect until one day she was taken ill, at first just a minor thing but then it became more serious.  She has plenty of money, investments and lots of lovely things like cars and beautiful houses but she would give them all up to return to full health. Perhaps the wisest resident in The Life Tree is owl Norman, from high up and with fantastic eyesight he sees everything going on beneath him. He is a college professor and loves steak and chips, basic good food he says. His Granddaughter Sage is with him in this picture and Norman is about to teach her some very important life lessons.

College Professor Norman is perhaps the wisest resident on the tree and so his name is Norman Wisdom but this is also the name of one of the funniest men ever to appear on TV and a favourite of our Queen.

Sage is young and only just finding her way in life. She loves to fly with Grandad Norman high above the tree and together they look down on life beneath them. One day Sage hopes to work for the National Health Service as an ambulance driver rushing out to help people. Sage is already quite wise, this is very normal for owls, they learn very quickly.

Reflecting on past memories

Rory reflects and remembers carving ‘WE’ into the tree many years ago. He feels lost without Angela and wonders if he will ever smile again. Angela whispers that she will always be with him, that she is always by his side, forever and together as ‘WE’.

World famous artist Pablo Cheerio has had a long and successful life. His paintings have brought happiness to many people and he has made it to the very top of the tree, not easy for anyone to do. Pablo says goodbye to The Life Tree as he prepares himself for a new journey, his balloon awaits him and he says to us all, today is a good day, I am happy; it is time for me to move on.
